Update: The 45 mm 3D lens uses a pair of LCD shutters that close off the left and right sides of the image, back and forth. This creates a small shift in the view. An animated example of how this works is in a previous post. What is done is that the camera captures the separate left and right images, in sequence, and in synchronization with the LCD shutters.
I expect many 3D camera announcements at the 2013 CES. I will be there and will do my best to post updates each evening.
