Hard to tell from the drawings but it looks like the lens (see right most drawing at link) is doing an internal beam split to give slightly different left and right perspectives.
Microsoft’s SkyDrive said to be adding 3D panorama capability
Microsoft is planning to add support for uploading and viewing 3D panorama within SkyDrive.com in the future.

Report suggests camera sales may have peaked
CIPA report on 2012 sales in Japan: Fewer Mirrorless cameras produced. | 43 Rumors.
The main finding is that actual camera sales in Japan in 2012 were significantly less than had been originally forecast for 2012.
From a comment, compact camera sales are down about 30% from 2011 to 2012. And “so far this year mirrorless sales are 81.5% of last year and DSLR sales are 76.8% of last year”.
